Amun Ra Theatre offers up its own version of an “unforgettable” show with the premiere of jeff obafemi carr’s one-man piece, Route 66: Finding Nat King Cole.
The piece is directed by acclaimed writer/producer/ performer T’Keyah Crystal Keymah, and carr will take on more than 10 roles in the production, including singing a number of King’s greatest hits. The entertainer, whose rich baritone graced pieces like L-O-V-E, Mona Lisa and The Christmas Song, also was an acclaimed jazz pianist and one of the first black Americans to host a TV variety show.
