Is it me?

or have people just flat out lost their mind? i remember the days of at least SOME common courtesy. so i get off the radio today and i stop by the little coffee shop to chill for a minute before i go back to the house and work on this holiday play script. i order a little breakfast sandwich, and find a spot in the corner of the front patio. open space. cool. quiet.

this cat comes up with this big wolf dog. i don't mind dogs. i love dogs. i can't wait to have one one day, when i'm home long enough to take care of him and he's not out on the corner asking other dogs for 50 cents to buy some alpo. but i also know that that is responsibility. this dog was freestyling. we have leash laws, designed--on this day--to keep your free-roaming wolfsheepdog from walking up under my table and trying to get the scent of my privates while i'm checking my email.

then the guy sits at the end of the long table, at the front of the breeze, and lights up a Kool. wasn't there a day when people asked, "Do you mind if i smoke and blow the secondhand right into your face?" some of my best buddies are smokers and i love to shoot the breeze with them while they dust off a square. no big problem, no judgment, but DANG...at least they let you know what's up. i guess common courtesy is out the window these days.

fortunately, he just left. he didn't buy anything. never even went inside. which begs the question: did he just see me sitting on the patio on his morning walk and decide to make a social experiment out of me? we'll never know, because had he stayed, i was going to go into a fit of coughing and make a scene myself--just to see what would happen.

but alas, The Lord saved all of that, sent that fella on his way, and gave me a beautiful, cool, morning breeze to clear my lungs and open my mind. i think i'll go home now and type of Angels and Virgin Births.

Been so long

i almost forgot my sign-in name and password. how wild is that? is that because i'm old or because i haven't blogged in a while? lol...too funny. so what have ya'll been up to? i've been shaping and molding my work style to fit a life with the coolest daughter in creation (shhh...don't tell her...we parents have to be tough). we've been hanging and having fun and talking life. talking life. life with a soon-to-be-twelve-year-old in middle school--HELP!!!!!

as for the professional stuff. i'm editing some video work, gearing up for Christmas, and opening up this head to let some of the creative steam off. you won't believe what's coming out.

i heard an interview on NPR concerning Orson Welles. i was always feelin' that cat (ROSEBUD!!!), but now i'm feeling him more. fasho.

speaking of NPR, Ed Gordon has now officially moved on to Television. Farai has taken over the "News and Notes" reigns, and i'm still on the roundtable at present. tune in wherever you are and let's keep the show rocking. let's break into one million listeners by the end of the year, shall we?
